HS 520A — Payment and Financing of Health Care

Examines trends in health care expenditures and the impact of payment and system design practices on access, quality, patient outcomes and cost. The course will address the potential for and the challenges of achieving greater efficiency and lower expenditures through payment and delivery system reforms. The objectives of the course are to develop an understanding of how current financing and payment policies contribute to expenditures in the U.S.; to assess the pros and cons of cost containment options and delivery system reforms; to strengthen research skills. Usually offered every second year.
