So, you’ve applied, been accepted, and are now wondering next steps, and how you fit into the community at Heller. Or maybe you’ve been researching graduate schools and want to hear more about the programs and student experience. No matter where you are in the application journey, attending an admitted or prospective student event is a fantastic way to gain insight into your program of interest and life at Heller.
Why attend a prospective or admitted student event if you can research the program online? Because these events are a great way to engage with current students and faculty! Luckily, there are several opportunities (in-person and virtual!) to engage with admissions staff, and Heller faculty and students, to gain more insight into everything Heller has to offer.
Prospective student event offerings vary, but may include mock classes, panel discussions with students, or one-on-one chats. You can also set up appointments with our wonderful admissions counselors, who can answer any questions you may have about the admissions process or logistics. Additionally, current students from various Heller programs are available to chat about their experience and answer burning questions that Google can’t answer!
If you’ve already done the research and applied, how does an admitted student event benefit you? Much like prospective student events, admitted student events allow you to engage with students, staff, and faculty to learn more about the nitty gritty of your program. Virtual events are a great way to learn about academics, careers, and student life. In-person admitted student days include discussions with faculty, lunch with current students, and you may even attend a class! Plus, you get a tour of campus and see the place you would call home for the duration of your program.
If you don’t have the time or aren’t able to come to campus, or the virtual events don’t fit your schedule, you can still set up a one-on-one chat with a current student! Myself and the other Program Ambassadors love to talk about our experiences in our respective programs and student life at Heller! These chats are an informal time for you to ask questions, whether about student life, why we chose Heller, our classmates, our professors, class structure, or if you just want a general overview of our experiences thus far. We want you to make the right choice when choosing a grad program and community that aligns with your interests and values.
Even after you attend an event, whether a virtual panel, a campus visit, or a one-on-one chat, you can always reach out to the admissions office. We’re happy to address lingering questions, and are ready to welcome you to the Heller community!
