David and Miriam Weil Fellowship

David and Miriam Weil
David and Miriam Weil

In 2021, friends, family, students and colleagues established a student fellowship at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management in honor of Professor David Weil and his wife Miriam Weil on the advent of David’s nomination to become administrator of the Wage and Hour Division at the U.S. Department of Labor, after a four and a half years as Dean of the Heller School.

As Dean, David strengthened and integrated Heller’s academic programs and student experience, reinvigorated research, elevated Heller’s public profile and ensured the school's continual progress towards a model of equity, inclusion and diversity. He also remained a leading researcher in the study of changing workplace conditions. Miriam also shares a commitment to workers’ rights as a practicing expert in work environment policy and worker safety.

This fellowship will provide an award to a Heller School graduate student, with a preference for a student who is studying labor, economic, or environmental policy.

If we are able to raise a total of at least $200,000 by December 2024, the fund can be endowed in perpetuity.
