
Jimmy Duong
2009 City Year Segal Fellow
Jimmy Duong is a teacher in Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) where he also leads his school’s Math Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) Program which was awarded UCLA MESA School of the Year for 2023, 2024, and 2025. He is also a coach for his school's Academic Pentathlon Team and leads his school's Computer Science for Good Program. Mr. Duong is also a member of LAUSD's Climate Literacy Champions Leadership Team and was a member of the LAUSD STEAM Collaborative. In 2024 Mr. Duong received the LAUSD Academic Pentathlon Coach of the Year award.
Mr. Duong is a 2009 City Year Segal Fellow. In his time at City Year, Mr. Duong led a team of corps members at Hollenbeck Middle School. Prior to teaching, Jimmy worked at the National Foster Youth Institute, the Partnership for LA Schools, Days of Dialogue and on various capacity building projects for different nonprofit organizations. He holds a Masters in Education and BA in history from UCLA and was a graduate of the Coro Public Affairs Fellowship Program. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate Degree in the UCLA Education Leadership Program.
