Shawn Wilds

2018 AmeriCorps Alums Segal Fellow

Shawn Wilds is from a small town in eastern North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Upon graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C., to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Reading Partners. She served with Reading Partners for two years as a Volunteer Coordinator, where her passion for education and youth was reinforced by the opportunities to build partnerships with local high schools and other organizations. The importance of service to others was instilled in Shawn at a very young age and has been a major focus in her personal and professional life. Shawn is currently the Post-Secondary Program Coordinator at For Love of Children and supports high school seniors as they unlock opportunities and identify what success looks like for them after high school. In addition, she advises current post-secondary students as they navigate through college and continue into their careers. Shawn aspires to become a high school guidance counselor so that she can continue to support youth from underserved communities.
