Andrea Tyree

Andrea Tyree is a Policy Specialist for the Crime and Justice Institute (CJI) where she contributes to foundational research and the evaluation of law enforcement agency practices. During her time at CJI, Andrea has conducted a national landscape of behavioral health crisis response models and opportunities for policy-level intervention, assessed consent decree outcomes in law enforcement agencies for the U.S. Department of Justice, and developed tools for individual police departments looking to reform policies and practices.
Prior to this role, Andrea served as Strategic Planning Coordinator under the Chief of Police at Brandeis University, where she collaborated with the Chief to create 5-year strategic plan for the department. Andrea's approach to field is influenced by her time organizing alongside West Virginian communities impacted by the criminal justice system and serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Timor-Leste.
Andrea is committed to assisting law enforcement stakeholders and the communities they serve through the data-driven decision-making that can generate safe and equitable practices for all involved. Andrea holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Howard University and a Master of Public Policy degree from The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.
