Kayla Scire
2017 Heller MPP Segal Fellow
Kayla Scire is a Senior Policy Analyst at the Massachusetts Health Connector. She received a dual MPP/MBA degree from The Heller School for Social Policy and Management in 2018, concentrating in Health Policy. Kayla was an Altman Fellow for Health Policy and Management, with an interest in combating health disparities. Before coming to Heller, Kayla served as U.S. Senator Edward J. Markey’s (D-MA) Senior Aide for health and environmental issues in Boston. Over the span of four years, Kayla advised Senator Markey on issues related to health, the environment, and energy in Massachusetts. Kayla graduated cum laude from Wellesley College in 2012. She majored in Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies, and she received the Wellesley College Department of Political Science Woodrow Wilson Award for American Politics & Political Theory for her work applying lessons from Massachusetts health care reform to the Affordable Care Act. Kayla is originally from Medford, Massachusetts, and is a proud alumna of Medford High School. In the summer of 2017, as a Segal Fellow, Kayla supported MA Representative Jeffrey Sanchez, as he chaired the Joint Committee for Health Care Financing and moved on to chair the House Ways and Means Committee. In the fall of 2017, Kayla worked on Medford Mayor Stephanie Muccini Burke's successful reelection campaign. Kayla also worked for the Mass. Health Policy Forum and for DMA Health Strategies while completing MPP and MBA coursework.
