Brian Schon
2009 Heller MPP Segal Fellow
Brian Schon joined the Segal network through the Heller School for Social Policy and Management, where in 2011 he received his MPP and MBA concentrating on health policy and nonprofit management. Afterwards, he spent two years as Director of Policy and Strategic Initiatives at Primary Care Progress, a national nonprofit that engages medical trainees to promote primary care practice. In 2013, Brian shifted to an international focus, working on public-private partnerships in emerging markets as an intern at the Albright Stonebridge Group in Washington, D.C., and then as a community and economic development Peace Corps volunteer in Pyriatyn, Ukraine. For the last several years he has built two innovative businesses based out of Medellín, Colombia. The first, Cannúa, is the country’s first high-end, sustainable ecolodge, which provides dozens of rural jobs and helps promote sustainable and responsible tourism. His other business, True Colombia Travel, provides high-end, bespoke, and experiential trips for foreigners across the country with a special focus on responsibility and economic development in rural and impacted communities.
