Gabyliz Machado
2022 AmeriCorps Alums Segal Fellow
Gabyliz Machado is a 2022 AmeriCorps Alums Segal Fellow, native to Chicago, IL. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.A. in Global Studies, with a concentration in Race and Cultural Diversity, with additional minors in Anthropology and Latinx Studies. After graduation, Gabyliz served with City Year as a tutor and mentor at an elementary school in her Chicago community. Following this service experience, Gabyliz worked as an AmeriCorps Human Resources Associate at a housing and financial education non-profit. Today, Gaby is committed to serving communities-of-color by helping them overcome underemployment through career readiness skills. She hopes to continue to work in workforce development to create opportunities for communities-of-color to obtain gainful and fulfilling employment, and establish upwardly mobile careers. In addition to racial and economic equity, Gaby is passionate about all things wellness, including yoga, pilates, meditation, and herbalism. She received her Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) certificate in 2022. As a Segal Fellow, she is excited to build relationships with others in the program and further develop her leadership skills.
