Aja Antoine
2015 Brandeis Undergraduate Segal Fellow
Aja Antoine's principal interests include using archival research as a tool for social change and activism with a focus on Women in the U.S. Civil Rights Movement, education, equality and restorative justice. Aja recently completed a senior honors thesis on activist mothering during the Civil Rights Movement in Boston. Her award winning research has been supported by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and presented at conferences including the American Sociological Association and the Eastern Sociological Society. Aja graduated summa cum laude from Brandeis University with degrees in Sociology and African and Afro-American Studies. Aja is currently working as a Research Associate for the Brandeis University Department of Sociology through project-based research for The Chaplaincy Innovation Lab, as well as working towards her PhD at the University of California Berkeley.
