Ruby Siegel’s personal and professional experiences are shaped by her identity as a white, cisgender woman with invisible disabilities. Her research explores how people, practices, policies, and systems dis/able individuals in areas such as schooling, carcerality, and institutionalization. She further identifies how one’s experience of dis/ability is impacted by their multiple identities.
Ruby is a Research Associate at the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management. She primarily works in the Community Living Equity Center (CLEC). Ruby started with Lurie as a Student Fellow.
Prior to Lurie, Ruby worked at the school and district level, most recently as Equity Team Coordinator with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Office of Equity.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Education Studies from Brandeis University.
