The Lurie Institute is currently looking for:

Research Scientist

As a Research Scientist, you will be an innovator with broad and comprehensive knowledge applicable across disciplines; primary responsibilities include scholarship, project management, proposal writing, data analysis and collection. You will develop fundable research programs and write grant applications to secure funding, and you will participate as a member of an interdisciplinary social science team on a variety of research projects.

The specific focus within this broad field is open, and applicants with disability policy expertise in areas such as health, poverty, community-living policy, employment, housing, civil rights, and intersectionality are welcome to apply. The Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis University’s Heller School leads research that helps shape policies, programs and practices which improve the lives of people with disabilities across the lifespan. Nearly half of our staff identify as disabled, and we strongly encourage researchers with disabilities to apply. This position is fully grant funded and we have two positions available.

Senior Research Associate

As a Sr. Research Associate, you will lead research initiatives within major research studies within The Lurie Institute for Disability Policy; provide day-to-day direction and project management to less experienced research staff on assigned projects. You also may serve as Principal (or Co-Principal) Investigator. This role includes conceptualizing and performing innovative research, as well as, contributing through scholarship to enhance the relevant body of knowledge, proposal writing, data analysis, synthesis and presentation of complex and varied findings.

Senior Communications Specialist

The Senior Communications Specialist will lead the dissemination of research conducted by the Lurie Institute and 4 associated research centers, including the National Research Center for Parents with Disabilities; Center for Disability and Pregnancy Research; Community Living Policy Center; and Community Living Equity Center. The Senior Communications Specialist will develop research dissemination products, participate in the development of the Lurie Institute communications strategy, and manage the communications team. Knowledge and familiarity with disability policy is crucial; we highly encourage people who identify as disabled to apply.

Bilingual Spanish Consultant

The Bilingual Spanish Consultant will translate written materials into Spanish for all Community Living Equity Center research projects; interpret during interviews as needed; provide voiceover for communication products; consult on cultural relevancy and communication products; and build relationships with Latinx community organizations. Strong preference for candidates with lived experience of disability and/or experience in HCBS. Competitive hourly rate.
