Maddie Crowley is a Communications Specialist at the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy. Prior to their time at Brandeis, Maddie worked at Disability Rights Florida, the state’s Protection and Advocacy agency, as their Social Media and Content Specialist. There, Maddie developed communication plans, plain language 'Know Your Rights' resources, and advocacy and legislative campaigns, and produced their blog and podcast.
Maddie is a person with a variety of disabilities themself, and is committed to Disability Justice, with the main goal of serving the diverse disability community. They’re passionate about making disability advocacy as easy as possible for people with disabilities by centering accessibility practices, such as using plain language and inclusive design.
Maddie graduated cum laude with dual Bachelor's degrees in Linguistics and Education Sciences with a minor in Disability Studies from the University of Florida. Maddie is also a 2024 graduate of the Coelho Law Fellowship program, where they engaged with other young disability rights practitioners on emerging disability-related issues and emerging critical disability law perspectives.
