The research program seeks to examine the different mechanisms employed by members of poor households in addressing their economic vulnerabilities and household poverty. Internal migration has become an important labor-seeking mechanism undertaken with diverse objectives, including poverty reduction. We seek to determine the impact of migration as a livelihood/economic strategy of household members, to ascertain whether such mobilities result in wealth accumulation and improvement of well-being or mere survival. The program further aims to understand and develop effective policy frameworks and protocols that will enhance the safety, security, and well-being of internal migrants and enhance poverty reduction.
