The UPWARD Study
Understanding Pathways to Wellness for Alcohol Recovery in Detroit
Why do we want you to participate?
We're learning about how to understand recovery among Black or African American people in recovery from problems with alcohol. We know that recovery means different things to different people, and we want to learn whether one way to describe recovery is helpful. We are talking to clients about the form we hope to use to describe recovery, so we can improve it.
DRP is all about “doing it together,” and that’s exactly why we want to hear from you! Your story is important, and by sharing it you can help build a foundation for more supportive, culturally-informed recovery resources.
Opportunities to Get Involved
We're currently recruiting participants to take part in a researcher-led group conversation, also called a focus group, lasting 1.5-2 hours. Focus groups will either be done online using Zoom (with video) or in person at DRP (with remote focus group leaders). Participants will be asked questions about a tool used to collect information about their recovery progress. Study participants will be compensated for their time with a $30 gift card.
Interested in participating?
- Are you at least 18 years old?
- Do you identify as Black or African-American?
- Have you been in recovery from alcohol problems for at least 30 days and less than 10 years?
If you answered "yes" to all of the questions you may be eligible to participate-- contact Drew Hickman to get involved.
