INROADS: Intersecting Research on Opioid Misuse, Addiction, and Disability Services

The INROADS portfolio stems from two projects: (1) INROADS-Opioids (NIDILRR-funded) and (2) INROADS-Alcohol (NIAAA-funded), each of which examine the intersection between substance use and risky use, addiction, disability, and service provision.

MOATS: Medicaid Managed Care Opioid and Alcohol Treatment Policy Study

The Medicaid Managed Care Opioid and Alcohol Treatment Policy Study (MOATS) examines the relationships between Medicaid managed care organization policies and access to and quality of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services with the goal of identifying strategies to improve substance use treatment.

SUPIC: The Substance Use and Psychological Injury Combat Study

The Substance Use and Psychological Injury Combat Study (SUPIC)database integrates data from the Department of Defenses’ (DoD) Military Health System (MHS) and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) to improve understanding of both short and long-term morbidity and mortality for post-9/11 military members and Veterans. 

UPWARD: Understanding Pathways to Wellness and Alcohol Recovery in Detroit

The UPWARD study seeks to enable a deep understanding of what recovery means to the Black community, how recovery can be measured, and how to advance recovery journeys of Black people with alcohol use disorder (AUD).  The results of this work will be meaningful to Black people in recovery, providers who treat Black people who have AUD, and to researchers and policymakers who need to better understand the meaning and needs of a diverse US population.
