Community Living Policy Center

Call for Disabled Artists:

The Community Living Equity Center (CLEC), housed within the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis University, is looking for help in developing our Center’s logo!

We will provide an honorarium of $1,000 to the illustrator of the selected logo.

About the Center:

The CLEC aims to address gaps in our knowledge about inequities in community living and participation experiences and outcomes faced by disabled people of color and develop interventions to address equity, by leveraging existing and new data sources, developing new policy and systems change initiatives, and through active dissemination of findings and trainings for stakeholders.

Call for Disabled Artists — Help the new Community Living Equity Center (CLEC) design its logo! The core target population for the proposed CLEC are people of color with disabilities who have long-term services and supports (LTSS) needs. This population includes the intersections of disabled people of color with other identities and socio-demographic characteristics, including gender, age, LGBTQ+ identities, rural/urban, nationality and citizenship status.

The CLEC will have significant beneficial impacts on disabled people of color because it lays the foundation for community living equity. In alignment with the White House Executive Order on Advancing Equity, we define equity as, “the consistent and systematic fair, just, and impartial treatment of all individuals, including individuals who belong to underserved communities that have been denied such treatment.” We apply this definition in the development of our conceptual framework of equity in community living. The selected logo design will represent community living, equity, and people with disabilities!
