HS 613F — Responsible E-Negotiation Across Cultures

Meets for one-half semester and yields half-course credit.

We negotiate continuously, and as globalization settles in, we do it increasingly across cultures through Internet-based modes of communication, like Email, Skype or FaceTime, but how can we make sure we e-negotiate responsibly? This online course is about yourself and others as global e-negotiators in projects, contracts, conflicts or crises. This class will give to you the skills and abilities to master e-negotiation by identifying and overcoming the unique challenges of negotiating in an online or remote environment. You will learn how to be part of a strong team when working at distance and negotiate across cross-cultural contexts that may include a diversity of values, norms, attitudes, and behaviors. In a nutshell, the purpose of this online class is to embark you on a personal journey of self-discovery and accountability towards others to make you a more responsible e-negotiator. Usually offered every year.
