HS 312F — National and International Perspectives on Youth Policy and Programs

Meets for one-half semester and yields half-course credit.

Examines demographic trends that have led to the ‘youth bulge’ in the developing world, leading to the need for youth-centered development policies. After considering obstacles to young people’s growth and potential, the course maps major institutional actors and analyzes policy issues and programs in areas with high potential for positive impact on youth, such as entrepreneurship and civic engagement. The course also reviews assessment strategies and tools to monitor and evaluate policy choices and programs in the youth sector. Usually offered every year.
