Valter (Cheque) Cheque, MSBA, is a Research Associate/Data Analyst on drug checking for Dr. Traci Green at the Opioid Policy Research Collaborative. Cheque earned his Bachelor of Computer Engineering from Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique and holds a Master of Science in Business Analytics from the Brandeis University School of Business and Economics.
He specializes in the intersection of data engineering, predictive modeling, and public health, with a technical focus on building automated pipelines and high-impact visualizations that translate complex datasets into actionable policy insights. Cheque’s professional background includes extensive work in global health informatics with Friends in Global Health, where he collaborated with the CDC, USAID, and the Ministry of Health (Mozambique) to manage HIV/AIDS treatment monitoring for over 2 million people across 650+ health facilities. In his free time, Cheque enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and playing chess.
