Recently I was given the honor of introducing Melody Barnes, Domestic Policy Advisor to President Obama when she traveled to Brandeis to deliver the Segal Memorial Lecture. The following morning I attended the Massachusetts Service Alliance Award ceremony where Heller was recognized for elevating service and volunteerism through its partnership with AmeriCorps. Both events made me so proud to be a student at Heller.

Heller faculty push the boundaries of traditional pedagogy to create a dynamic learning environment that challenges and engages students. The analytical skills I've developed through the MBA program will be invaluable to me as I pursue a career in the youth development sector.

So far, my experience at the Heller School has exceeded my expectations. I came into the program not expecting any sort of community and I am pleased to have found a warm community full of learners dedicated to the same social justice goals that I am. Both professors and fellow students help me to elevate my thinking by pushing me and by supporting me. I am also excited about my new-found abilities. I never thought that I would feel confident with subject matter such as accounting and statistics but I feel so empowered by the new tools that Heller has already given me.

Coming into the Heller MBA program with an MPP, I knew from firsthand experience that policy work was important, but I felt far removed from any tangible results. The Heller MBA has given me the critical skills needed to translate policy into action. 'Knowledge advancing social justice' is no mere catchphrase - it is a commitment embodied in Heller faculty and students through the MBA program.
