Shyamal Sharma is a visiting research scholar at the Institute on Healthcare Systems. She is the Founder of the Relational Society Project. Shyamal joined Heller in summer 2018, with a rich body of experience in high-impact issues of research and innovation at the intersection of health policy, healthcare delivery, and emerging technologies. She has robust training in developing standardized measures of clinical quality and patient-centered health outcomes. Shyamal has served on statewide multi-stakeholder initiatives, in both public and private sectors. She led the 1998 Survey of the Health Insurance Status of Massachusetts residents, an early source of crucial policy-relevant information for eventual health insurance reform in Massachusetts. She was the Principal Investigator of an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) grant for innovative application of technology for enhancing patient self-management of chronic conditions.
Shyamal holds an MPH with a concentration in Health Policy and Management, and also completed significant advanced coursework in health outcomes research at the Harvard School of Public Health.
