Heller School-Hanley Center PELI Advanced Executive Leadership Course

Session 4: March 14-16, 2024

Leadership Styles, Self-Development, and Understanding Change in Health Care Organizations

Faculty: Sally Ourieff, MD

Background:

The theme of our session from March 14 – 16 is leadership and self-development.  Please be sure to prepare in advance by completing two diagnostic instruments, the MBTI and GELM surveys.  You will have received information on how to do this by email.

Our March sessions will be moderated by Sally Ourieff, MD. She is an expert in leadership, startup formation, communications, teams, high performance, and behavioral change. This session will focus on developing successful leadership and understanding the kind of self-awareness and self-management that best helps leaders navigate the complexity of the health care environment.

Dr. Ourieff is a physician who spent over 20 years as a psychiatrist working with many physicians, leaders, and families. For the last fifteen years she has been a management consultant and executive advisor and coach for c-suite executives primarily in health care, academia, pharma, bio tech, and tech. She consulted for Jon Chilingerian in the development of Brandeis University’s Executive MBA (EMBA) for physicians. She went on to teach the EMBA capstone project course focusing on the leadership of change management and currently directs the coaching program. In addition, Sally is very involved in the startup ecosystem, has coached numerous entrepreneurs and founders, and has been a business advisor and member of investment committees providing pre-seed funding to early-stage ventures.

In preparation, Dr. Ourieff asks that you read three classic leadership articles to prepare for your work together. In addition, she would like you address several key questions that will be referred to during the course and will also help set your intentions for your own personal work in developing your leadership.
