In collaboration with Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and led by Dr. Redeat Assefa, Team 3 is developing a framework to evaluate AI-driven technologies in healthcare. Their project seeks to create a structured approach for assessing AI tools that promise to advance predictive and diagnostic capabilities, ultimately aiming for equitable health outcomes.
This project brings together an interdisciplinary team of physicians, public health experts, data scientists, and policy analysts — a testament to RJxTP's commitment to inclusive, diverse research. Supported by RJxTP’s co-sponsorship and advisory resources, and with Dr. Tefera, RJxTP’s Program Director, actively participating in research activities, this initiative underscores the program’s dedication to working towards collaborative, socially-conscious technology solutions.
This project centers on patient-focused priorities, addressing essential aspects such as regulatory standards, cost-effectiveness, and the reduction of health disparities in the use of AI technologies. By establishing a comprehensive evaluation system, they aim to guide fair and effective integration of AI in health systems, ensuring these innovations align with the needs of diverse patient populations. This research not only contributes to the responsible application of AI in healthcare but also supports RJxTP’s mission to promote equity in tech-driven advancements.
