The Pandemic Threat: Is Massachusetts Prepared?

Forum held on June 8, 2006

Concerns are mounting about the possibility of a pandemic flu. The costs and consequences of such an outbreak could be devastating for Massachusetts, for the nation and across the globe. Are we ready to meet the challenges of a flu pandemic? What has been done at the federal, state and local levels to prepare? Dr. Howard Koh from Harvard School of Public Health led a distinguished discussion panel that included: Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Paul Cote, Commissioner of Public Health, Representative Peter Koutoujian, and Harold Cox from the Cambridge Department of Public Health. In addition, Senator Kennedy addressed the conference by video.
