The Health Industry Forum (The Forum) is based at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, and is an affiliate of the Schneider Institutes for Health Policy and Research. It is chaired by Professor Stuart Altman and directed by Robert Mechanic. The Forum works closely with another nationally-recognized Brandeis program – the Council on Health Care Economics and Policy – to evaluate the public policy implications of Forum research topics and bring together perspectives of industry leaders and public officials.
The Forum was established to bring together a diverse group of leaders from across the health care field to develop solutions for critical problems facing the healthcare system. The Forum combines a mission for independent research and analysis with a commitment to evaluate key business and public policy issues facing its members. The Forum develops and refines research topics through an ongoing dialog with members and interactive conferences focused on issues of current interest and importance. Principal activities include:
- Convening public officials, industry leaders and policy research experts to engage in constructive dialogue on strategies to improve the value and effectiveness of healthcare services.
- Sponsoring targeted primary and secondary research to support development of innovative health care policy and practice.
- Disseminating findings through professional journals, conferences, and print, broadcast, and electronic media.
