Healthy Aging in the Commonwealth: Charting a Path Forward

Forum held on January 24, 2014

On Friday, January 24, 2014, the MHPF held the fourth forum on healthy aging entitled “Healthy Aging in the Commonwealth: Charting a Path Forward," at the Boston Marriott Newton. The forum unveiled the forthcoming report on healthy aging – the first of its kind in the state to provide data on health and social indicators for older adults in communities across Massachusetts.

The new website for the Massachusetts Healthy Aging Collaborative which was designed to connect professionals, advocates, senior activists, and communities in the field of healthy aging was showcased.

The forum featured keynote speaker Joseph Coughlin, PhD, noted author, speaker and director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology AgeLab. The Rev. Liz Walker of Roxbury Presbyterian Church led the discussion with Massachusetts Public Health Commissioner Cheryl Bartlett and Massachusetts Elder Affairs Secretary Ann Hartstein on healthy aging indicators in the state.

And, due to popular demand, the poster session returned this year to highlight a number of healthy aging activities in Massachusetts.
