IERE's Master of Public Policy Concentrations

Policy Made Personal

Ever-driven by the core mission of knowledge advancing social justice, Heller's Master of Public Policy program trains students to address the most pressing issues facing our nation and the world. Directed by IERE Professor Alexandra Piñeros-Shields, herself a Heller PhD alum, the MPP program develops policy leaders who can think critically about the systems that drive inequity and helps them develop the tools they need to develop solutions in public, non-profit, and even private sectors.

IERE's MPP Concentrations

IERE staff advise students and teach courses in three of the Heller School's MPP concentrations: Environmental Justice, Children, Youth, and Families, and, of course, Economic and Racial Equity. All students in these concentrations have a dedicated core course, required for both PhD and MPP students in the concentration, as well as required courses to develop the hard skills they need to pursue careers in policy, such as econometrics, economics, and research methods. Students also have the latitude to construct their class schedule within the concentration based on their interests. For instance, ERE concentrators can take courses on labor economics or even law and social justice during their two years at Heller. Learn more by following the links below.
