Heller MBA Careers

We believe that career development is a priority. As a Heller student, you will work closely with the Career Development Center to define your professional goals and build strategies to achieve them. Beginning with the online Career Academy the summer before orientation, MBA students regularly meet with career advisors, learn from professional development workshops and attend employer events throughout their time at Heller. You will be supported at every stage, from initial career visioning through resume development, networking training and practice interviews.

MBA students gain the tools and knowledge to land great jobs where they make positive, effective social change. Upon graduation you will know how to create and implement strategies, improve operations, compare the financial implications of different programs, measure the breadth and depth of their impact and know how to act as ethical, inclusive leaders among a variety of stakeholders. Many of our MBA students find future employment through networking with alumni, their Team Consulting Project, the Board Fellows Program, regular career treks, on-campus and on campus information sessions offered by employers.

The class of 2016 is now working in key roles across sectors, including positions with The Boston Foundation, Deloitte Consulting, the Charity Defense Council and YW Boston. Our alumni lead high-impact organizations, such as Samantha Watson, MBA’06, founder of The Samfund, and Brenna Schneider, MBA’12, founder of 99Degrees Custom. Both Brenna and Samantha stay involved at Heller as members of our annual MBA Team Consulting Project roster.

The Career Development Center will continue to be a benefit long after you graduate. Staff are committed to connecting students and alumni to the Heller network and the professional resources they need as their career aspirations evolve—it’s a lifelong promise.

What kinds of jobs do Heller MBA alumni get?

Our graduates are well represented in government, nonprofits, international organizations, foundations, think tanks and a host of private sector organizations. Check out some of the jobs held by MBA graduates by sector:

Without going to Heller, I'm not sure I would have had the confidence to assume an executive director role at a young age. Earning an MBA demystified the world of management, budgeting, and financial statements. It also connected me to a talented group of likeminded peers, many of whom I expect will be lifelong friends.
