Alumni Career Mentor Program: Be a Mentee!

“People seldom improve when they have no other model but themselves to copy.”

Oliver Goldsmith

Become A Mentee!

A Heller Alumni Mentee is a dependable, curious, and professional representative of the Heller program, seeking information and advice as they move forward on a path to completing a degree.

As a mentee, you will have access to a knowledgeable and professional source of information and advice.  Every relationship between a mentor and a mentee will be different, but the common goal of the program will be the same.

Goal of the Heller Alumni Mentoring Program

Mentees and Mentors will communicate three times over the course of one month, covering at least 2 of the following 4 topics

  • Course Selection
  • Industry Specific Information
  • Personal Stories: School Work and Job Search
  • Resume Review
How to be a great Mentee:
  • Initiate the conversation with your mentor, once you have been matched
  • Be open about your current challenges and triumphs
  • Ask questions about course selection
  • Inquire about Brandeis or Heller specific resources that you may not know about
  • Give the mentor the opportunity to hear about your personal and past experiences
  • Stick to questions within the (4) goals of the program and avoid asking for a direct job
  • Communicate with the mentor (3) times over the course of one month
  • Communicate with program staff on questions or issues that may arise
