Sarah Emond, MPP '09
Already a seasoned professional in the science and business of health care, Emond entered the MPP program to learn more about the policy side. She began her career as a clinical researcher, then worked in corporate communications in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. The flexibility of the MPP program has allowed her to continue working part-time at a major pharmaceutical company and to meet with the Massachusetts Congressional delegation in Washington to educate them about issues affecting the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
"I knew that I had a lot more to learn about health care policy, so Heller's leadership on health care issues made it a perfect choice for me," says Emond. "To come here and study with some of the most influential names in health care policy, like Stuart Altman - that was a big selling point for me."
MPP Students
Students matriculating into the MPP program will join more than 250 midcareer professionals in residence in Heller doctoral and master's programs to prepare for careers as managers of health and human service programs; sustainable development planners working in international settings; health care practitioners who manage organizations around the globe; and doctoral students with advanced training in health and social policy research and evaluation. MPP students will participate in related course offerings through electives, concentrations, and requirements.
