PhD Students Through the Decades
Since its founding in 1959, the Doctor of Philosophy in Social Policy program at the Heller School has been training students to combat injustice with effective policymaking. Our PhD students gain critical skills in social policy research along with a wealth of expertise in one of our four concentrations—Health; Behavioral Health; Economic and Racial Equity; and Children, Youth, and Families—preparing them to apply analytical tools and methods to develop social solutions to pervasive social problems. Nearly 65 years after the program’s launch, Heller has graduated 561 doctoral students who are leaders in their respective fields, actively pursuing social justice and making the world a more equitable place. Read on to learn what members of our diverse alumni network have to say about the impact the Heller PhD program has had on their careers.
