The Heller School once again named a top-ranked graduate school

April 25, 2023

For its 2024 rankings, U.S. News & World Report ranked the Heller School for Social Policy and Management among the top public affairs graduate schools in two specialty categories: social policy (where Heller has been top-ranked for over a decade) and health policy and management.

Social policy and health policy and management are specialty areas within the public affairs category, where Heller ranks in the top 25% of graduate schools in the U.S. The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on a survey of deans, directors and department chairs at 269 graduate schools of public affairs across the country.

“These rankings are an indicator of the strong social policy and health policy and management work being done at the Heller School year after year,” says Interim Dean Maria Madison. “I am pleased that our peer institutions continue to recognize the contributions that we make within the field of public affairs. At Heller, our faculty and researchers are leading experts in key policy areas, including health care access, racial and economic equity, disability rights, child poverty, and workforce and labor market conditions.”

Heller is a nationally-recognized research and educational institution shaped by its social justice roots at Brandeis University. Since its founding in 1959, the school has expanded from a single doctoral program to include seven master’s degrees spanning global and domestic social policy and social impact management. The graduate school also boasts nine research centers and institutes renowned for conducting applied interdisciplinary research and active public engagement. Heller’s motto is “knowledge advancing social justice.”
