Center for Teaching and Learning

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) champions effective teaching through the use of evidence-based practices and equity-minded innovations in pedagogy that promote successful learning for Brandeis’s diverse student population.

  • Faculty Development Events Calendar: These events are sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and many CTL partners. We welcome opportunities to co-sponsor events with campus collaborators, and to design sessions or programs tailored to the needs of your school, program, department, staff or students.
  • Inclusive Teaching Institute: Institute participants will be able to apply self-reflection and research on learning to enhance the equity of their course materials and teaching strategies.
  • Teaching Continuity: Brandeis’s distinctive leadership role in higher education requires that we apply the principles of access and social justice upon which Brandeis was founded in the present educational context that is partially or completely online.
  • Brandeis University Syllabus: The Committee on Teaching, Learning, and Assessment advises that all Brandeis University syllabi must be accessible (in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and revised ADA regulations) and must provide Important Brandeis Policies and ResourcesThe Committee offers a template document that responds directly to Brandeis faculty and student requests for a user-friendly syllabus template

Library - Teaching

National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity

Brandeis University has joined the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity, a nationally recognized, independent organization providing online career development and mentoring resources.

Supporting Students with Disabilities

Achieving reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities involves shared responsibility among the students, faculty and staff.

Peer Networks

NEW: Campus Group for Disabled Staff and Faculty  

This group is for disabled staff and faculty members and peers who support them. The group discusses disability-related issues that arise from work and the workplace and provides support and advocacy where needed, while also encouraging self-advocacy. At times, the group might focus on issues or themes associated with state or national circumstances or events, particularly as these affect staff members and faculty with disabilities on campus. Faculty & Staff Pride Alliance

The Brandeis Faculty and Staff Pride Alliance (BFSPA) is open to all members of the faculty and staff who identify with the LGBTQIA+ community or wish to be part of the peer network that supports the LGBTQIA+ community on campus.

Faculty of Color Collective

The Faculty of Color Collective is a collective for tenure-track and long-term contract faculty of color at Brandeis across the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the Heller School, and the International Business School. The Collective will provide a range of resources and opportunities for professional development and community building to the growing number of faculty of color at Brandeis.

University Ombuds

A confidential, independent, impartial and informal resource for all members of the Brandeis Community. The University Ombuds team provides a safe space to talk confidentially and off the record about difficult situations and offer conflict resolution support.
