Course Description

This course aims to develop relational leadership capacity for leading relational coordination change projects among organizational change leaders around the world.

In this course, you will learn about relational coordination— coordinating work through high quality communication, supported by shared goals, shared knowledge, and mutual respect—and its impact on quality, safety, efficiency, employee well-being, learning and innovation. You will learn how to analyze work processes that pose a coordination challenge by mapping out the current state of relational coordination to identify areas of strength and areas in need of improvement, using Relational Mapping. You will diagnose the organizational structures that weaken or strengthen relational coordination using the Organizational Structures Assessment Tool. You will be introduced to the Relational Model of Organizational Change as a guiding framework for designing interventions.

Moving from analysis to action, you will engage with key stakeholders regarding a coordination challenge you have identified in your organization and use tools from this course to refine the scope of your change project and carry it out successfully.

Those who participate in this course will have the opportunity for more advanced training to become certified coaches in the use of this framework. This online course builds the foundation for developing and sharing relational leadership, research and coaching skills with others in future years.
