Irina Cain

Irina Cain, Postdoctoral Fellow

Irina Cain, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow at the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, with a doctorate in Special Education and Disability Policy. Her work focuses on identifying services and practices associated with postsecondary quality of life, with a focus on: (i) community living; (ii) inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of life; (iii) educational factors associated with improved transition to adulthood; (iv) involving families of people with disabilities in transition planning; (v) equal access to services including the intersectionality of ethnicity, socioeconomic factors, and disability; and (vi) translating research findings to inform policy. Prior to her doctoral studies, Irina was a special education teacher in grades 2-12.
