How to Get Started with Handshake?

Begin by clicking on the join Handshake link: on this page, you will be asked to select your school: Brandeis University. Once you've selected your school, sign in by either using your school's login option or by entering your .edu email address. If there isn't an account on file for you, you'll be prompted to set up an account. Select I'm a Student or Alumni to proceed with setting up your account.

Once you are in the system, there are a number of things you will be prompted to do or add in order to take advantage of the many features Handshake offers. No need to do it all at once. Begin with the basic components that you need to get started. Complete your profile which will allow you to search for jobs, internships, and new employers. It will also give you access to sign up for career programs and events. You will also be able to make appointments with a career advisor at the Heller School. Because many of the opportunities on Handshake will require a resume, we recommend uploading this as one of your initial documents. Before you do, be sure to have someone at the Heller Career Development Center or another trusted resource take a look at it.

Career Development Resources on Handshake

In addition to using Handshake to search for professional opportunities, attend career events, and schedule advising appointments, there are also useful career and informational resources that will assist you in your career exploration. To access these resources, begin at the Handshake student landing page. In the middle of the page, you will see “Brandeis University Career Center;” click on that! You will be taken to another page. In the middle of that page, it will state “what can I help you find” and offer a few options. One of those options is a tab which says “Resources;” click on that! You will now be at the page where you can browse all of the Heller School’s career and informational resources (online and print).
