Executive Education Program

The Executive Education Program held its annual weeklong Health Leadership Program for Health Policy and Management for physicians and surgeons in June 2014. Heller faculty and researchers Jon Chilingerian, Stuart Altman, Jody Hoffer Gittell, Brenda Anderson, Robert Mechanic, Christopher Tompkins and Jeffrey Prottas presented individual sessions on a variety of topics, including U.S. health policy, health economics, strategic thinking in health care, financial literacy for physician leaders, conflict negotiation, and value-based purchasing.

The Executive Education Program also entered its third year of partnering with Maine's Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership to offer Maine's statewide Physician Executive Leadership Institute (PELI). The program offers several sessions in multiple locations in Maine to provide executive leadership training to help the transformation of Maine's healthcare delivery system at both the local and state levels.

Jon ChilingerianIn May 2014, the program held another edition of its Massachusetts Medical Society-sponsored series, "Physician Leadership in the Changing Health Care Environment." This program included a panel discussion on "Implementing Data Analytics to Change Physician Practice Behavior," and a session led by Executive Education Program director Jon Chilingerian, "Leading Change in a Complex System."

A new initiative offered by the program is a multi-module course, the Brandeis University Leadership Academy, held at Tufts University School of Medicine. The first module, held in May 2014, was presented by Jon Chilingerian and covered "Strategic Thinking and Decision Making," "New Clinical Leadership Challenges," and "Intro to 360 Feedback."
