Margaret T. Lee

Profile

Margaret T. Lee, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist in the Schneider Institutes for Health Policy located within Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management. Her current work focuses on substance abuse performance measures.

Dr. Lee was part of the research team that pilot tested the Washington Circle (WC) substance abuse performance measures using data from commercial heath plans. Through a NIDA grant, Dr. Lee is testing the WC measures for an adolescent population in the public sector and exploring client level and facility level variables associated with initiation and engagement in substance abuse treatment.

In addition, she is co-principal investigator of a NIAAA-funded project that is extending the WC measures to an adult population in the public sector and testing the relationship between adherence to measures and client outcomes. She is a member of the Washington Circle Public Sector Workgroup and a co-investigator on the CSAT funded WC Public Sector Project. This project is working with 12 states to adapt the WC substance abuse performance measures for use by states for continuous quality improvement.

She is also involved with the State Outcomes Measurement and Management System (SOMMS) which supports SAMHSA in implementing and managing the SOMMS to receive from Federal data bases, other contractors, and directly from State Agencies, data on SAMHSA’s National Outcomes Measurement (NOMS) domains for substance abuse treatment and prevention and mental health treatment. The project includes tasks to result in standardized definitions and measures for NOMS.
