Tatjana Meschede

Senior Scientist and Senior Lecturer

Profile

As the Research Director for the Institute on Assets and Social Policy (IASP), Dr. Meschede manages IASP’s project on financial well-being and risk of diverse U.S. population groups with a specific focus on racial wealth disparities. She is the lead or co-lead author on many IASP publications, such as reports in the “Leveraging Mobility”, "Living Longer on Less", and "By a Thread" series, and has presented on economic well-being for differently population groups with a specific focus on racial/ethnic disparities at many conferences and events.In 2016, Dr. Meschede was selected as Visiting Scholar at the Boston Federal Reserve Bank where she was analyzing new data on local race and ethnic wealth holdings, the National Assets Score Card of Communities of Color (NASCC) data set.

Dr. Meschede also leads IASP’s research and evaluation projects on homelessness, including a state wide work force development initiative targeting homeless parents and an evaluation of the Housing First for Homeless Families Program in Massachusetts' South Shore region. She has extensive experience in research on homelessness collaborating with Massachusetts' state departments (DHCD, DTA, DPH,) and local communities, and is the author of numerous reports and publications on homelessness. Dr. Meschede worked in Israel and Europe and served on the faculty at the Masters in Public Affairs Program at the University of Massachusetts Boston and the Department of Urban and Environmental Studies at Tufts University.
Dr. Meschede received her PhD in Public Policy from the University of Massachusetts.
