Profile

Maintaining her interest in quality of care and expertise in analyses of large datasets, Dr. Garnick leads the Brandeis team in a collaboration to specify the National Outcome Measures (NOMS) for behavioral health in a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA) funded project. She also directs an effort to extend performance measures for substance abuse services developed for commercial managed care plans to public health systems through NIDA and NIAAA-funded research grants. She is a member of the Washington Circle Policy Group and leads their workgroup on public sector performance measures for substance abuse. She serves as Co-Principal Investigator on studies that involve tracking of drug and alcohol abuse services and mental health services provided by the managed behavioral health care industry. She has recently served as a member of the National Quality Forums Substance Use Disorders and Evidence Based-Practices Technical Advisory Panel and Tufts Health Plan advisory panel on quality-based reimbursement of physicians.
