Innovative Leadership: Helping to Reshape a City

Raised in Lawrence, Mass., Dan Rivera is a former Lawrence City Council member who was elected mayor of the city in November. One of the many accomplishments he has had in his career was becoming manager of the Lawrence public housing project in which he grew up. During his time as a project manager, Rivera spent nights and weekends earning an MBA from Suffolk University. He later worked as the director of economic development for Congressman Marty Meehan before joining the private sector in the field of marketing.
