First Jobs Attained - Ph.D.

A Sampling of First Jobs for Recent Graduates of Heller's
Ph.D. Program in Social Policy

Fifty-eight percent of recent Heller doctoral graduates secured positions in the nonprofit sector (including private academic institutions), 17% in the public sector (including public academic institutions), and 25% in the private sector. 32% secured positions in administration, 30% in teaching, 21% in research, 11% in consulting and 6% in direct service.

Ph.D. graduates have gone on to assume research and teaching positions in a wide variety of schools and programs (currently, they are found in over 140 institutions), and include one college president and 17 deans of schools of social work or social welfare.
