The Brandeis Heller Career Development Center hosts multiple panel discussions each semester that bring together experienced alumni and top-notch career professionals.

Ranked in the Top 10 Schools of Social Policy by U.S. News & World Report, the Heller School places a high priority on the career development of its students. We will assist you during every step of your career search and we will provide you with the tools you need to best leverage yourself in reaching your career goals.

From identifying valuable internships or fellowships to achieving professional success in finding an ideal job, we will help you hone in on the skills and strategies you will rely on throughout your professional life.  

Individual Career Advising

Our career development professionals provide a wealth of experience across the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Both domestic and international students can benefit from advising topics such as:

  • coaching for careers and internships
  • building and leveraging a network
  • preparing resumes, CVs and cover letters
  • connecting to people and resources
  • interviewing preparation and practice
  • negotiating salary and benefits

Professional & Career Development Programs

Before they arrive on campus, admitted students enroll in the Summer Career Academy, an online series of career-focused learning modules to prepare them to enter Heller ready to benefit from all of the career activities available at Heller and beyond. Beginning in September, the Center offers career-related workshops, presentations and networking events to facilitate continued job search preparation and career strategy planning. Students and alumni can access fieldwork, internships and job postings from a wide range of national and international employers in the nonprofit, public and private sectors through Handshake.

Washington DC trip - 2014
The Brandeis Heller Alumni Networking Reception in Washington, D.C., is an annual event with proven success in helping 1st year and 2nd year students find practicum opportunities and job placements. 

Throughout the year, Heller provides a variety of learning and networking opportunities to help students connect to potential employers, including information sessions, alumni panels, career fairs, and colloquia. In February, Heller students travel to Washington, D.C., for an intensive week of company visits and networking events. Each spring, the Social Justice Impact Forum and the Brandeis Heller Global Forum bring to campus employers from the private, public and nonprofit sectors.
