The Heller School's Schneider Institutes for Health Policy offer two doctoral training fellowships in the areas of health and substance abuse sponsored by the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA).

Health care is one of the three major educational and research areas of the Heller School, and these two federally-sponsored doctoral training programs support and educate qualified doctoral students interested in research careers.

The Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) are the two sponsoring agencies, both of which have a number of specific requirements for the programs as a result of being federally funded. Both programs provide financial support for Schneider Institute trainees and are awarded based solely on merit for those applicants interested in careers in research.
