Health Policy

Prof. Stuart Altman

Stuart Altman,
Sol C. Chaikin Professor of National Health Policy and former Dean of the Heller School

Health systems are the most complex organizations that we manage today. This trillion-dollar industry, the largest service industry in the world, faces many challenges and opportunities. Modern health care management requires improving care processes, achieving clinical quality and efficiency, reducing errors, and finding best practices. As the development and utilization of biotechnology and ethical drugs drive the cost of health promotion and illness prevention through the roof, the organization of care providers determine how effectively patients and families are diagnosed and treated.

The Health Policy concentration prepares students to become international leaders in the changing global landscape and infrastructure of health care. The knowledge base and technology in this industry are both expanding at an exponential rate. The global demand is to find future leaders competent in health policy analysis.
