June 9 - 11, 2009
The Nurse Executive Leadership Program is an interactive, three-day educational program jointly sponsored by the Jewish Healthcare Foundation and Brandeis University.
As healthcare institutions face growing pressures to demonstrate quality outcomes and value, the role of nurse leaders in those institutions is changing. As members of the senior management team, nurse leaders are vital to organizational efforts to realize management efficiencies and improve quality of care. To meet these demands and ensure that management practices satisfy the needs of patients and organizations alike, nursing leaders must develop new understanding and skills in leadership, coordination, process improvement, and public policy.
Brandeis University and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation are collaborating to offer a three-day Nurse Executive Leadership Program. Nurse managers and executives who attend the program will enhance their knowledge and skills in health policy and will learn: 1) how to be successful change agents in healthcare quality and safety, 2) how to remove obstacles to best practices, and 3) how to drive and measure process improvements that result in improved clinical care outcomes in their institutions.
Program elements include lectures, discussions, case studies, simulations, small group work, and networking opportunities. Participant feedback will be vital in shaping program content and delivery in the future.
Between 20 and 25 nurse managers and executives
Program faculty are drawn from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, the Jewish Healthcare Foundation, and the Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative, and include: Stuart Altman, PhD, former Heller Dean and Sol C. Chaikin Professor of National Health Policy; Jon Chilingerian, PhD, Associate Professor and Director, Heller Executive Leadership Program in Health; and Jody Hoffer Gittell, PhD, Associate Professor and Director, Heller MBA Program.
Tuition is $300 for the three-day program. Registration includes lunch each day, dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday, and all program materials. Continuing education credits will be provided.
Greatly subsidized tuition is available through grant support from the Jewish Healthcare Foundation.
Funding for this program has been provided under the grant "Achieving System-wide Quality Improvements - A collaboration of the Jewish Healthcare Foundation and Schneider Institutes for Health Policy," 7/1/2007 to 6/30/2009.
