The Massachusetts Medical Society Leadership Development Program is a dynamic, two-day leadership program developed specifically for Mass Medical Society officers, leaders, staff, and members.
Physicians need skills, knowledge, and the mindset to take active leadership roles in their health care organizations and systems, and to participate in the development of health policies that will meet the shared interests of patients and the medical profession. With the emergence of health care management as a discipline, physicians and hospital leaders can no longer choose between medicine and management. The landscape of health care is continually changing, and the cultures of health care organizations, including hospitals, must change to become more agile, nimble, and entrepreneurial, and better connect managerial, policy, and service domains. Knowledge of health care policies and practices in the US at a national and state level is also essential. These challenges have prompted Mass Medical Society to offer a leadership development program for its members, leadership, and staff.
Program topics include strategic thinking and team building, national health policy, conflict negotiation, relational coordination, and effective leadership styles. Physicians will be eligible to claim continuing medical education credits for this dynamic, interactive educational activity.
